iiHub was founded by two multiple award winning Directors, serial Indigenous entrepreneur Petina Tieman and her husband Paul Gear, as a direct result of receiving consistent feedback through their mentoring and consultancy services, of the lack of affordable services and facilities available in FNQ to support startups, entrepreneurs, micro and Indigenous businesses.
In addition, they identified a lack of low cost and easy access, hire of training room and conference facilities within Cairns. Hence they personally invested in building the 800sqm collaboration and skills development centre known as iiHub. They chose to establish iiHub as an independent not-for-profit entity to ensure the provision of affordable and easily accessible services and facilities would be available to the greater community.
